Although its appearances are rather more occasional, the Waffle Racer has, in most recently months, taken on collaborative projects with the likes off CDG and Off-White, and even teased an interesting new Waffle Racer Crater silhouette with
Drawing design cues from the Swoosh’s previously revealed collection, this forthcoming model inherits the very same recycled materials to compose its entire sole unit; offering up an identical multi-colored/chippy aesthetic reflective of its moon-inspired moniker. Additionally, constructional alterations arrive by way of exposed stitchings bordering its Swooshes, as well as throat overlays that have been thickened in width. Color-wise, this iteration relies on a cream-colored base paired up with grey suede paneling at the heels/forefoot, and is broken up by Swoosh/heel counters hued in burgundy.
By taking inspiration from the and Nike Daybreak, along with incorporating both Crater foam and Regrind rubber, the Waffle Racer Crater seems to do it all. For an upcoming colorway, the sustainability-informed silhouette will be going back to its roots to tick yet another checkbox off of the unlikely combos list—specifically via the pairing of two vibrant, high-contrast hues. This new pair differs from recent releases since it ditches the white uppers and dark accents for a full-blown colored approach.
With its latest ensemble, the waste-conscious sneaker indulges in an all-“Black” upper accompanied by vibrant “Volt” profile swooshes and branding on the tongue. Furthermore, a “The Starry Night”-reminiscent pattern animates the collar lining, delivering further contrast to the predominantly understated top-half; Nike Grind material takes over the upper heel panel. “Colorless” midsoles are accented by not only neon green “AIR” detailing, but a grey and multi-color outsole debuted on the Space Hippie line.
